T-Puzzle

Two trapezoids, a triangle and a long trapezoid. Use all four to fill the gray letter T with no gaps. You may turn and flip the pieces.

Drag the pieces onto the gray T. Use "Turn 45°" and "Flip" to change the selected piece.

How to play

Loose pieces are on the right. Drag them onto the gray T on the left. Use "Turn 45°" and "Flip" on the selected piece (tapping the selected piece again also turns it). Near the corners of the shadow, a piece snaps into place. On a keyboard, focus a piece, move it with the arrow keys, turn it with R and flip it with F. "Hint" starts with the idea and gets more specific. "Auto-solve" places the pieces one by one with a reason for each, and stops when the T is done.

This T is our own shape, with dimensions chosen for this puzzle. The bar is 8x2 and the stem is 2x5, so the area is 16 + 10 = 26. The four pieces have areas 8, 8, 3 and 7, which add up to exactly 26. If the pieces do not overlap and all lie inside the shadow, the shadow is filled with no gaps. Cutting one shape into pieces that rearrange into another is called a dissection puzzle. The two wide trapezoids can swap places, so the answer is not unique.
