How many blocks are there in all, counting the hidden ones?

How to play

The picture shows a pile of blocks from diagonally above, from the front-right. Light faces point up, medium faces point left, dark faces point right. Some blocks are hidden behind taller columns in front. Choose a number with − and +, then press Answer. As you use hints, the top, front and side views unlock. The size of the base and the tallest possible column are shown next to the puzzle name.

For each base size and tallest column (for example, a 3×3 base with up to 4 levels allows 5⁹ = 1,953,125 stackings), this site’s program draws every stacking and groups the ones that look identical. A puzzle is used only if every stacking that matches its picture has the same total number of blocks. The hard puzzles each have two or more different stackings that look the same. The hidden blocks cannot be seen in the picture, but how many there are is settled.
