Rectangle Split

Divide the board into rectangles. Each holds exactly one number, equal to the rectangle's area.

Drag across cells to draw a rectangle. Tap a rectangle to remove it.

Tab to the board and move with the arrow keys. Press Enter to fix one corner, move, and press Enter again to make the rectangle (Escape cancels). Delete removes the rectangle under the cursor.

How to play

Cut the board into rectangles. Drag from one cell to another to draw a rectangle over that range. Every rectangle must hold exactly one number, and that number equals the rectangle's area (its number of cells). Rectangles never overlap, and every cell must belong to one. Tap a rectangle to remove it. A 1 can be placed with a single tap.

The clue is which shapes a number can make. A 6 can be 1 by 6, 2 by 3, 3 by 2 or 6 by 1, but shapes that leave the board or swallow another number are out. Cells that one number's rectangle must cover are off limits to the others. Once a number has only one shape left, it is decided.
