Truth-Tellers and Liars
Each islander always tells the truth or always lies. Assign roles that make every statement consistent.
Aki
“Aki and Haru are the same kind.”
Haru
“Aki is a truth-teller.”
Yu
“If Yu tells the truth, Aki does too.”
How to play
Cycle each role through unknown, truth-teller, and liar. A truth-teller’s statement must be true; a liar’s must be false. Hints compare every assignment in a truth table. “If X tells the truth, Y does too” is true whenever X is a liar, regardless of Y. A check means that speaker’s role agrees with their statement.
